Your notes. Your iCloud.

Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Jotory for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and the jotory.com website, handle information. Jotory is operated by Abhilash Thekkel.

1. Your notes and app settings

No separate Jotory registration, email address, username, or password is required. The app stores the information you add to your notes on your device and uses your private iCloud database for synchronization when iCloud is available.

Note data includes text, formatting, lists, checklists, attachments, links, and associated details such as file names, creation and edit dates, colors, and layout. Attachments may include photos, PDFs, SVG artwork, or audio files already present in a note. Imported files may retain metadata contained in the original file.

The app also keeps a short edit-activity history with each note. This records changes and relevant details, such as attachment names or appearance values; it is not a full archive of earlier note text.

Preferences and setup information are stored locally. To detect an Apple Account change, the app stores a hashed identifier derived from its CloudKit user record. This is not your Apple Account email address or password.

2. Private iCloud synchronization

Jotory uses Apple’s CloudKit service to synchronize notes and their attachments through a private database associated with your Apple Account. Devices must use the same Apple Account, with iCloud available. Sync timing depends on network and system conditions.

Apple handles Apple Account authentication. Jotory does not ask for or receive your Apple Account password. Private synchronization does not provide shared notes between different Apple Accounts.

Apple operates the iCloud infrastructure and applies its own account, storage, and privacy terms. See Apple’s Privacy Policy. This policy does not claim that all Jotory data is end-to-end encrypted.

3. Optional features and permissions

You can decline optional permissions or change them in your device’s settings. Features that depend on a denied permission will be unavailable.

4. Website visits and correspondence

jotory.com is a landing and support website, not a browser-based notes editor. Visiting it does not give the website access to the notes in your private iCloud database.

The website’s current code does not add analytics, advertising trackers, tracking cookies, or signup forms. Fonts and artwork are served from the website itself. The current app code does not include a third-party advertising or analytics SDK.

Hostinger provides website hosting and delivery. Serving a page involves processing technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, time of the request, browser information, and device or operating-system information. Hostinger may retain operational and security logs under its own privacy policy and service requirements. Jotory does not maintain a separate visitor-log database or use this information for advertising or profiling. See Hostinger’s Privacy Policy.

If you send a support or privacy message, the information you include—such as your name, email address, message, and any attachments—will be used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private note content unless it is necessary for the help you are requesting.

5. Retention, deletion, and your choices

Note content remains in the app’s storage and private iCloud database until you delete it. Deleting a note also removes its associated stored photo records and note activity history. The deletion is synchronized to your other devices when iCloud synchronization completes; it may not be immediate.

Deleting an attachment does not necessarily remove its name from the note’s recent edit-activity history immediately. The current app retains up to ten recent activity entries per note.

Copies you export, save to Photos, send to another app, or include in device backups are separate. Deleting a note does not delete those copies. Removing the app or turning off synchronization should not be treated as deleting its data from iCloud. Apple’s backup and iCloud retention rules may also apply.

Support and privacy correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, protect the service from abuse, and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of correspondence held by the operator by emailing the address below, subject to any information that must be retained for legal or security reasons.

You control what you put in your notes, what you share, and the optional permissions you grant. You can revoke optional permissions in the Settings app on your device. Jotory does not maintain a separate account that needs to be deleted.

6. Security and service providers

Jotory relies on the device’s storage protections and Apple’s private CloudKit database access controls. Private iCloud storage is distinct from a guarantee that information can never be accessed or that no security incident is possible.

Apple provides the platform and iCloud services; Hostinger provides website hosting. Linked websites and sharing destinations are separate services. Their processing is governed by their own policies. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when relevant app features, website services, legal requirements, or data practices change. The published version will show its effective date. Material changes will be described on this page where appropriate.
